With the growing concern surrounding COVID-19, Ogden Funeral Home is committed to ensuring the health and well being of our staff and the families that we serve.
As an essential service, a business that is vital for the day to day life, we will be here. We will continue to offer Funeral Services to our community and provide guidance and assistance to those in need in accordance with the guidelines set out by both the Province of Ontario and the Bereavement Authority of Ontario.
The Ogden Funeral Home family and staff have spent a number of days reviewing our approach to caring for the families in our Scarborough community. We are also reviewing our practices and procedures to best cope with and help slow down the spread of COVID-19.
We have introduced the following procedures and guidelines in an effort to help slow the transmission of COVID-19. The current health situation is very dynamic and the directives that we receive from the Province of Ontario and the Bereavement Authority of Ontario change on a regular basis.
On March 17, 2020 the Ontario Government declared a state of emergency and has placed restrictions on large gatherings. As of March 28, 2020 Ontario has prohibited gatherings of more than 5 people, with an exception for funerals. Funerals will be permitted to proceed with up to 10 people at one time. This 10 person maximum includes the clergy.
To accomplish this safely, we are implementing a number of temporary guidelines.
We continue to adhere to the safe distance protocol. This means that there will be no physical contact, such as handshakes, and the staff will maintain a 6 foot distance at all time and we request that you keep a safe "social distance" from our staff and others.
We would ask that an appointment be made prior to coming into the funeral home and that no more than 2 family members attend the meeting. Many parts of the arrangement process can be completed over the phone and by email.
A funeral service is usually a public gathering to express our feelings, memories and beliefs about the death of someone we loved. Given the current circumstances, this may not be possible. We are offering complimentary live streaming of the funeral for family and friends who prefer not to or cannot attend. Also, we welcome your condolences for our families on our website.
Our family and staff will be here to assist you through this difficult time after losing a loved one. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the temporary measures that we have put in place, please contact any member of our staff.
