On April 10, 2011, mama you were taken away to be relieved of the physical pain you endured for so long. When I think about you each day, my eyes fill up with tears because of memories of happy and sad times and times that we’ll never get to share between mother and daughter. When I see an older lady walking down the street with her walker, I wish that could have been you. But God knows best and I know you are peacefully resting in His arms. "Gentle, unselfish, a friend ever true, my best possession, Mother, was you.}

This morning was peaceful and very quiet, you can almost hear yourself think and possibly the Holy Spirit speaks. I was in fact very privileged to attend Aunt's funeral. The atmosphere was full of hope and some joy, at least for me and that's the way we should celebrate the life of a person, especially someone like Aunt - sharing stories of her special qualities, those qualities that made her a unique twin sister, a mother, an Aunt, an individual! Her life was to be an oak tree, that all who needed rest and comfort could find it in her branches and if a leaf or a branch, then draw nourishment. It's probably easier to be kind to your own family, but her kindness genuinely extended to outsiders - the good she did in life came back more than a hundred-fold in that in turn we blessed lives around us and the process continues. True love never dies. One Bible commentary puts it this way...Before action one must ask: "Is this loving? Does it build up the body of Christ?" Salvation is fleshed out not in self-helping actions, but in self-sacrificial actions. -- From Ben Witherington III, Conflict & Community in Corinth: A Socio-Rhetorical Commentary. The key words for me is 'self-sacrificial actions'. This she did for me and for so many others. So rejoice in knowing that she fulfilled her purpose on earth and when many think of her they think with wonderful remembrance and a smile. She was truly a blessing!

Our mother is missed by all her children. I will say I miss her the most although if this was being written by Hopeton or Horace, either one would say the same. It's two years now and it feels like yesterday she was taken away. May our dear mother continue to rest in peace. I can feel that she is. Love, her daughter, Carol

Mom, I cry for you this morning because I miss you so much. However, I'm comforted to know that you're resting in God's arms. You'll never be forgotten.
