ARMSTRONG, Chris - March 25, 1922 - March 29, 2011 George Christopher 'Chris' Armstrong died peacefully at the age of 89. Chris was the beloved husband of Madeleine (nee Murray), his wife of sixty-three years. Loving father of Rosemary (Hal), Christina (Phil) and Janet (Ross). He was a dear grandfather (G-Pa) of Alison (Craig), Shannon (Ryan), Sarah (Gary), Tim (Mary Courtney), Amy (Irek), Emily (Hayden), Beth (Ryan), Andrew (Jane), Matthew (Ashleigh), Christopher and Heather. He was the great-grandfather of Maya, Nathan, Isaac, Micah, Lukas, Liam, Madeleine, Arden, Jemma, Aliah, Eloise, Olivia and Taylor. Born in Ottawa on March 25, 1922, Chris lived a rich and rewarding life. He served as a pilot in the RCAF during WWII, and survived as a POW in a concentration camp after being shot down. After the war he moved to Toronto where he was supervisor in the Fisheries Division for the Ministry of Natural Resources of Ontario. Chris was an avid curler and bridge player which he continued to do until his 87th year. He was the loving patriarch of a very large family of which he was very proud. He will he greatly missed. There will be a private funeral for his immediate family on Saturday, April 9th and then a memorial service at the Shepherd Village on Saturday, April 16th at 11 a.m.
