The funeral is a ceremony of value for those who mourn. It provides an opportunity for the survivors to express their love, respect and grief. It permits facing openly and realistically the crisis that death may present. Through the funeral, the bereaved take that first step toward emotional adjustment to their loss.
How to Personalize
There are many ways to personalize a funeral and it's important to remember that it is a celebration of a loved ones life. There are no "right" or "wrong" funerals. Here are some great ways to help you and your family remember a person in a unique way:Display Personal Belongings
At the visitation or service it often helps to see belongings that held significance to the person who died. Things such as a hockey stick, awards, favourite books, artwork, a favourite rocking chair, or necktie are all great examples that can bring warm memories to grieving friends and family.
Choose a Unique Vault or Casket
Choosing a casket, vault or urn that can be personalized is a great way to represent the person who has died. They are available in many price ranges, materials and colours. Put together a slideshow video of photos with music to create a "visual eulogy" that can be shown at the visitation and/or the ceremony.
